​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​The Caldwell County Sheriff is the Chief Law Enforcement Officer of Caldwell County. The Sheriff’s office is responsible for maintaining peace within the borders of the county.  The Sheriff’s Office currently has twelve employees; six deputies, three court security officers and three clerks. The primary mission of the Sheriff’s Office is to protect the rights of persons and property, prevent crime, and provide assistance to citizens in emergency situations.

The Sheriff and his deputies are the executive officers of the courts of Caldwell County, serving warrants, court summonses, and other court processes for the courts of Caldwell County and other jurisdictions. They are bailiffs of the court for Caldwell County District Court, Caldwell Circuit Court, and Caldwell Fiscal Court. Their duties also include transporting mental patients, juveniles, and prisoners for court purposes.

The Sheriff’s Office also collects property, franchise, oil, and unmined mineral taxes for the various taxing districts of Caldwell County.​

The Caldwell Co Sheriff's Office has immediate openings for threee (3) part-time court security officers - COULD THIS BE YOU?  
The courtroom is of high importance for the judicial system.  We are currently seeking three qualified persons to fill these positions.  

Requirements (short listed) for applicants:
1.  Must be at least 21 years of age.
2.  Be a US citizen
3.  High school diploma or GED
4.  Possess a valid license to operate a motor vehicle
5.  Pass a criminal background check and be fingerprinted
6.  Have not been convicted of a felony
7.  Not be prohibited by law from possessing a firearm
8.  Must pass a drug screening test
9.  Pass all preemployment and pre-training requirements

Successful candidates will be require to have the ability to multitask, good judgement, emotional self-control, good communication sklls, dedicated to teamwork, and have high morals, character, and integrity.  Successful cadidates will be required to complete a two-week training academy in Richmond, Kentucky.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

The 2024 property tax bills will be mailed October 30, 2024.  They become due and payable November 1, 2024.  Property tax bills are mailed directly to the owner.  You will need to forward to any third party such as escrow companies.  Drop box is available on the East side of the courthouse.   Hours are 8 am to 4 pm Monday through Friday.  The sheriff's office observes State Holiday closures.  ​Payments can be cash, check, cashier's check, money order or credit card (in person).  Amount for checks, MO, and CC must be exact.  Postmarks are accepted.  Desk stamps are NOT accepted.​

Collection dates are:

November 1-30, 2024          2% discount

January 1-31, 2025               5% Penalty

February 1-April 15, 2025   21% Penalty
